DESCRIPTION

Commissioning a New Veneer Drying and Stacking Line

Bringing a production line online requires careful planning, testing, and coordination across multiple disciplines. Goodwin worked alongside mechanical contractors and project stakeholders to ensure electrical systems were properly integrated with process equipment and ready for operation.

The scope included:

  • Installation of a new 25kV switchgear lineup

  • Installation of two 3000 kVA transformers

  • Installation of two 5000A power distribution centres (PDCs)

  • Deployment of eight motor control centre (MCC) lineups equipped with variable frequency drives (VFDs)

  • Upgrades to plant lighting, electrical room lighting, and emergency lighting systems

  • Installation of power, control, and network wiring for process equipment

  • Replacement of aging electrical infrastructure that was no longer serviceable

System testing, verification, and commissioning activities were completed to support startup and planned production requirements.

Delivering the Project Within a 20-Day Schedule

The compressed schedule required detailed planning and daily coordination between trades working in the same areas throughout the project.

Goodwin worked closely with mechanical contractors to align installation activities, testing procedures, and commissioning milestones. Maintaining schedule commitments required a coordinated approach to equipment installation, wiring completion, startup activities, and system verification.

The project was completed on schedule and the production line was successfully commissioned to operate at its planned capacity.
